Tara Ribera, Program DirectorTara Ribera - Owner / Program Director / Head Coach

Tara Ribera is the owner and CEO of Tara Ribera Fitness, Inc, and is and is the new owner of Fresno Adventure Boot Camp. She is an ISSA and NESTA certified trainer. She is dedicated to helping each and every one of her clients capture their fitness goals through proper training, form, and nutrition.  She strives to empower people to believe in their potential and in their ability to reach their goals and is a firm believer that fitness is for everyone and it’s never too late to get started!  Tara is very excited to be offering this exciting and effective fitness program in the Fresno and Clovis area.

 


Michael MendrinMichael Mendrin - Boot Camp Coach

Ever since Michael could walk, he has been avidly involved in sports. His senior year of high school, Michael was drafted in the 38th round by the Chicago White Sox. Michael was blessed to play professional baseball in Calgary, Canada in the summer of 2005. Although Michael did not continue with his professional baseball career, he earned a baseball scholarship at Fresno Pacific University. During this time, Michael along with his fellow teammates made history, having played on the very first team in FPU history. He was even fortunate enough to earn the very first conference win beating Concordia as a pitcher in 2005.  Baseball has allowed Michael to travel the world, having played in Australia, New Zealand, and Japan, representing the United States. 

While attending Fresno Pacific University as a student-athlete, Michael received his B.A. degree in Liberal Studies (fall 2008). Currently, Michael is working on his Master’s degree in Kinesiology, and will be graduating this coming May. He is an adjunct instructor in the Health Science Division at Fresno City College.

He enjoys working out, running marathons, and has a goal of competing in an Iron Man Competition in 2012. Having an exceptional understanding of what it takes to help people reach their fitness goals, Michael plans to take these skills and utilize them in the classroom. After graduating with his Master’s, Michael plans to obtain his PhD and become a full-time Health Science instructor at the Community College level.


Amy BroganAmy Brogan - Substitute Boot Camp Coach

Amy Brogan is no stranger to the instruction and experience of movement. A South Dakota native, Amy began teaching swimming lessons and coaching swim team in high school.  After moving to Fresno Amy began teaching aerobics in 1991.  In 1993 Amy became an AFAA certified aerobics instructor and personal trainer.  

Over the years Amy has taught aerobics, step aerobics, strength training, boxing, running, aqua aerobics, cycling, fitness walking, yoga, and pilates.  Most recently, Amy became a 200 hour RYT (certified yoga instructor).  Earning a BS from CSUF in Dietetics and a MA from CSUF in Kinesiology, Amy taught at CSUF as a graduate assistant for 2 years in the Kinesiology Department, and continues to teach for the department as an adjunct faculty member.  

Amy has been married to Kevin for 12 years and has 2 boys, Bailey and Brandon. In her spare time she enjoys running, swimming, teaching, reading, studying the Bible, being outside and spending lots of time with her family. 


Dr. John Spencer EllisDr. John Spencer Ellis - Support Staff

Each week, over one million people around the world enjoy a fitness program created by John Spencer Ellis. His fitness programs are implemented in the top resorts, spas and health clubs. John is the President of NESTA (National Exercise & Sports Trainers Association) and the Spencer Institute for Life Coaching. These two professional associations have 45,000 members in 30 countries. John is on the Advisory Boards of the National Health, Wellness and Prevention Congress, Exercise TV, Conference for Healthy Living, Irvine Valley College, Get America Fit Foundation, and is a Fellow of the National Board of Fitness Examiners. He is the author of "How Badly Do You Want It? - Your Ultimate Guide to Optimal Fitness," and a contributor to "Power of Champions." He created Adventure Boot Camp, the largest fitness boot camp program in the world. His signature series of outdoor fitness equipment is used in communities worldwide. John has been featured or quoted in every major fitness publication, and held the post of Fitness Editor for OC Flair magazine. John has been featured on NBC, CBS, PBS, SPIKE, ESPN & Bravo. He serves as an on-air expert for Life & Leisure Television and Health Journal Television with General Norman Schwarzkopf. He is the producer and host of The OC Body on The Healthy Living Channel. John is a Nautilus sponsored athlete and stars in the workout DVDs Playground Boot Camp™ & Kung-Fu Fitness™. John created the fitness program used by the U.S. Secret Service and he consults the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championships).

John has been continuing his professional education since 1987, and holds bachelors degrees in business and health science, an MBA, and a doctorate in education. He is currently completing a second doctorate in naturopathy. He has fifteen certifications including massage therapy, plyometrics, self-defense, fitness kick boxing, fitness boxing, water fitness, exercise rehabilitation, golf conditioning, Pilates, personal training, clinical hypnotherapy, sports hypnosis, PACE circuit training and yoga. He holds a 2nd degree black belt in kung-fu, has completed the Ironman triathlon, and finished 5th at the U.S. National Biathlon Championships. His medical training includes a license in radiological technology, a medical assisting certification, and training in McKenzie rehabilitation. John was nominated for the California Community College Distinguished Alumni Award.
